Making Your Comments Stick And Some More Goodies

Welcome back, everybody! In our first little tutorial we will be talking about commenting and how to raise your stick rate. First of all though, please understand that a good comment (a comment that manages to stick) will be your ticket to success. So, don’t go about harvesting, scraping and doing an overall great, time-consuming job just to ruin it with a badly formatted comment.

That said, what makes a comment stick and what doesn’t? Obviously, before anything else, you comment needs to appear as unique as possible. So spend some good time formatting and spinning your comments. Generally, 6-5 well spun comments (makes sense grammatically, no spelling mistakes, spinning of words as well as sentences, 1-4 sentences long) will do much better than 20 badly spun ones.

Now, what should your comment be about? Should you go about commenting how great of a blog, somebody’s blog is? Shortly, no! Don’t fall into the trap of leaving short, “soul-less” , badly formatted, really-liked-your-blog-just-subscribed comments. They usually don’t stick well. On the other hand, we have personally found out that leaving comments that point out something which is wrong (it doesn’t have to be actually wrong) with the webmaster’s site, increases the stick rate dramatically!

Try submitting comments such as “Hey, I noticed your RSS feed not working anymore, what’s up with that?”. Usually the webmaster’s respond pretty well and give you a positive reply, thanking you for pointing out something that wasn’t working but that must have been fixed in the process. Also giving you that backlink of course!
